At Littlebury Medical Centre, we are proud to support the education and development of future healthcare professionals. As an accredited training practice, we help provide supervised training for doctors who are specialising in General Practice.

What does this mean for our patients?

Being a training practice offers a number of benefits:

  • Appointments with GP Registrars may be slightly longer than standard consultations, allowing time for learning and discussion.
  • Our involvement in training helps all members of the clinical team stay up to date with current medical knowledge, guidelines and best practice.
  • It encourages continuous professional development and enhances consultation skills across the practice.
  • Training practices are regularly reviewed to ensure high standards of patient care, clinical governance and record keeping are maintained.
  • It helps us attract and retain highly skilled healthcare professionals.

GP Registrars

GP Registrars are qualified doctors who have already completed several years of hospital-based training and are undertaking further specialist training to become General Practitioners.

As part of their postgraduate training programme, GP Registrars spend a significant period working in general practice under the supervision of experienced GP trainers.

Quality Assurance and Medical Records

Training practices are periodically assessed to ensure they continue to meet the standards required for postgraduate medical education.

As part of this process, a small number of patient records may be reviewed by authorised assessors. These reviews are carried out solely to assess the quality of care and record keeping, not the personal content of consultations. All information remains confidential.

If you would prefer your records not to be included in such reviews, please let us know in writing and we will make the appropriate arrangements.

Video Consultations for Training

Video recording of consultations can be an important educational tool for doctors in training. On occasion, a GP Registrar may request permission to record a consultation for review with their educational supervisor.

Participation is entirely voluntary. Recordings are used only for training purposes, remain strictly confidential, and will never be made without your explicit consent.

Medical and Nursing Students

We also support the training of medical students and student nurses.

You may occasionally be offered an appointment where a student is present during your consultation. In some cases, a medical student may speak with you before you see the doctor.

Your involvement is always optional, and choosing not to participate will not affect your care in any way.

Working with Local Training Programmes

We regularly host healthcare professionals from local hospitals and educational institutions as part of recognised training programmes.
